How to Rank on Google Simplified

Let’s face it. With so many articles and tutorials on the topic of SEO, growing your business online can seem like an uphill battle you will never win and lays you stranded when you think on how to rank on Google?

What if you could get your hands on a realistic guide that will increase profits from your website?

Would you be interested to know about how to rank on Google?

Let me share with you the basic principles of organic SEO and what you need to do to get on the first page of Google.

Keyword research

Keyword research is essential both for newbie bloggers and seasoned bloggers.

Whether you are starting a new blog or a writing a new post, it’s best that you research your keywords well. Maintain niche relevance at all times.

Choose wisely, some keywords might not be worth pursuing at all.

Make sure that your keywords are being searched enough, with a medium or low competition, and a good click-through rate. The level of difficulty to rank on the first page of Google will vary as some keywords have very big competition and some have medium and low competition.

While doing your keyword research you always need to remember it’s about getting traffic to your blog; nothing else.

Your prime focus is to rank on Google and get those visitors coming to your blog.

Tools like Ahrefs and BuzzSumo are excellent resources that help you choose your keywords. I am not a big fan of Google Keyword Planner as it can at times be misleading and inaccurate.

Quality content

Now that you have done your research and got the right keywords to focus on, its time to start writing quality articles.

Some would argue that you need to write first and add keywords later.

But from my experience, you can write better articles if you have researched your keywords beforehand.

Let your articles be in the range of 400 to 700 words, which is the most suitable article length. If your post is longer than that, your reader is most likely to get bored however if you can offer benefit and value to a lengthy article then readers will definitely stick to the page regardless of the article length.

Convey no more than one idea in a post and do not duplicate content. Be unique and be creative.

Several of the on-page SEO practices go hand-in-hand with writing quality content.

Let’s hop on to on-page optimization to see how you can leverage it to your advantage.

On-page optimization

On-page SEO optimization is nothing but optimizing your posts for search engines so that they can be easily indexed and ranked on search engines like Google and Bing.

Now, there are over 8 tips that you should follow to optimize your articles to receive the best possible return.

  • Use keyword rich tags
  • Use keyword categories
  • Use keywords in the title

  • Use keywords in the post (Preferably within the first 160 characters of your post)

The above points are very self-explanatory. If you are having any doubts or require help, please leave me a comment and I will get back to you. However, for now, let’s move on to the next ranking metrics of how to rank on Google.
