Strategic SEO Quick Wins: 11 Effective Tips to Sky Rocket Your Rankings Using SEO

We all want to get to the top of the SERPs and are always looking for SEO quick wins to accomplish this desire.

Yesterday, Steven Kang along with Brian Schofield launched a competition on his famous Facebook group, SEO Signals Lab. The rules were simple, share your SEO quick win strategy and the answer that gets the most likes, Wins.

The winner is entitled to a $50 cash price, however, this was later raised to $100 as another member decided to sponsor the competition.

Within a few hours, the group post was filled with brilliant answers as SEO professionals a.k.a members of the group started sharing their most effective strategies.

Here are the top 11 SEO quick wins to rank higher in the search results:

1. Use Press Releases for GMB ranking

Press Release with the following: Map embed, link to driving directions, power-up link to the local citations. By power-up, I mean to link it in the PR. Each PR gets 300+ high DA backlinks.

Cheap, fast, effective.

*Caveat… not all press release services will allow or support GMB/Map embeds.

You can use simple steps in order to get started:

  • Write a 300-400 word press release
  • Add your links using anchor texts in the press release article
  • Extract embed code from your map listing
  • Head over to your PR publisher and submit the PR article
  • Add your embed code or email it to them providing instructions to add it to the article
  • Get the final report and submit it to social media and article directory sites for more juice

  • Embed Map in Press Release

Web 2.0 Ranker provides press release service in which you can get your embed your Google business map.

    2. Improve time on website & bounce rate

Improve your time on site and bounce rate with conversion rate optimization, CRO. Space out your paragraphs, use bullet points, add images, Gifs or videos every 300-400 words, and spend $50 on a good logo and theme.

Trust me, improve your time on site and bounce rate, things will improve. Google released a speed update making it clear that websites that load faster have a better chance to rank higher in search results.

You can reduce bounce rate by using proven effective strategies and benefit from the same.

One of the highly effective ways to increase time spent on the website and reduce bounce rate at the same time is to create content which is focused on client intent.

    3. Optimize images & use videos

A quick boost in rankings: Download and rename every image on clients or your own website “long-tail-keyword-specific-keyword-brand-name-related-keyword-maybe-city.jpg”, re-upload, copy/paste filename as alt text.

Adjust long-tail, specific keyword, and related keyword per page.

I always seem to get a quick win in a boost in SERPs if it’s not too competitive of a niche. Also helps buy time to do on-page SEO, link building, etc.

Head over to my a detailed article on image SEO showing exactly the steps you need to take in order to optimize your images for better performance.

Also, create YouTube vids for every blog post. Use Lumen or something similar if need be. Embed, share, blog link in the description, etc. Embed your youtube videos on your website and pages your sending backlinks too!. The iframe embed specifically!

    4. Optimize your content

On-page optimizations and properly optimized content! Carefully thought out the use of keywords (within context) correct use of heading tags and structuring/organizing content carefully.

A super easy SEO quick win: Modify some knowledge panel content by updating (only a few keywords based elements in) Wikipedia for your entity. I’ve done this for incorrect URLs on Wikipedia and adding keywords like “water park” for a brand entity and it’ll show up in the Knowledge Panel’s Wiki section.

Promote video content using these methods:

  • Choose a local Keyword (keyword + City)
  • Design a creative thumbnail for Youtube Video (eye-catching with a strong call to action)
  • Schedule a future live Video (1-2 weeks from the moment) on Youtube with the Thumbnail created above
  • Spam this future live broadcast with the local keyword (Title, Tags, Description, etc)
  • Sit back and relax while the video pops out on the first page
  • Bonus: Do the live broadcast when the time comes.

  • 5. Power up with Internal Linking

Internal links like a mofo. Just make it relevant. So many affiliates and web devs ignore this and it works so friggin well:

  • Took my big client main keyword from page 4 to the top of page 2 with JUST improving internal links. Backlinks got them to page 1 this week. (250k monthly searches)
  • I try to use at least 3 internal links to each new post. My client's site has thousands of blog posts, so in that example, I added links a few hundred times when applicable.

  • If you are new or having trouble with understanding internal linking or the entire on-page SEO concept then I strongly recommend a course by Marie and Moon that aims at solving this issue of yours.

As for anchor text, I use the keyword and longer variations of it. I just make it natural and helpful. Look at how Wikipedia does it for inspiration.

A system that ranks pages on the web-based on distances between the pages, wherein the pages are interconnected with links to form a link-graph.

More specifically, a set of high-quality seed pages are chosen as references for ranking the pages in the link-graph, and shortest distances from the set of seed pages to each given page in the link-graph are computed.

You can try these awesome link building strategies to get the maximum benefit of this strategy.

    7. Work on on-page SEO

Seeing as it takes time for links to be effective, analyze the on-page of the #1 competitor in SERPs to see what meta tags they have, and how much content on the target page.

Then emulate or take influence from their meta, and write more, better content, optimize images, especially reducing the file size, and make your content look better with sub-heads, bullets etc.

Another awesome way to improve your on-page SEO is to check existing keywords ranking on 6-20 position and related pages. Now making changes to on-page to gain keyword position.

Also, optimize page titles from sorting search queries by impressions in GSC. Match relevant searches with pages (I’ve found these to be different than KW tools, etc).

Take the search queries with the most impressions that show ranking 5-20 > click the phrase > then pages. This will show you the pages that get impressions for that search phrase.

Type the search in your favorite KW tool for related/suggested terms and add those to the content of all the pages GSC gave you.

    8. Find low competitive keywords

A good way to find low competition keywords in your niche is to:

  • Go to Ahrefs
  • Enter a popular social site like Pinterest, Tumblr, Quora
  • Go to Keywords
  • Filter them out based on your key terms

  • You now have an endless list of hot topics + low competition keywords that you can rank for.

These are the topics that people are interested in and all you need to do is produce better content and that’s it.

You can also find a relevant forum in your niche. See what is ranking for using Ahrefs or other tools. Create optimized content that answers those same questions. You’ll outrank the forum post every time. Have done this multiple times with success.

You can always go back to that forum and build a link to your content!

    9. Reuse your content

Not so much a quick win. But you can reuse the same piece of content in 20 different ways as a method to generate more eyeballs and use your content more effectively.

a blog post covering 3 topics within a subject can be used for 4 social media posts on every platform. Turned into a short podcast covering each topic. A short video doing the same. Infographics too. Hell, you can even throw up different bits and bobs on your branded web 2.0s.

A good way to find new users and build authority within your niche.

    10. Use the KGR Approach

The keyword golden ratio approach is probably the best keyword research technique. If you are wondering what the KGR approach is then I strongly recommend read it here.

Use the KGR approach and create a 2,000+ word article with secondary and third keyword phrases for an EASY win. Pump it up with supporting blog articles.

    11. Use Test page

Let me explain – We create Topic 1, let’s call it, test page 1 and then we create topic 2 and call that test page 2 and it goes on and on.

All test pages are the same with dummy content except the main keyword. Index them( spam XD ) Note down the amount of keyword showing in the Ahrefs site explorer. Now for each individual page Multiply avg CPC of all the keywords with total no keywords.

I just notice CPC is usually (80-90% time) directly proportional to the keyword trend. After doing multiplication hope you have a clear picture which could be your favorite keyword.

    Conclusion,

I really hope you guys loved these tips & tricks to get your SEO quick wins.
